Eye-catching headlights

The style of the Spyker C8 Aileron’s headlights is particularly eye-catching as they flow seamlessly from the body design. Latest-generation LEDs are used for the front and rear turn indicators and the sidelights within
the sharply-styled headlight units.

FRONT GRILLE

The trademark radiator grille has been enlarged to increase the cooling capabilities. The mesh is V-shaped as on the first generation of cars, a direct reference to Spykers of the previous century, but angled forward to give the car an aggressive stance.

Key fob

The key fob, machined from a solid piece of stainless steel, features keyless entry to ‘pop’ open the scissor doors. The fob has genuine weight,
and is highly tactile, reminding the customer at all times of the authenticity of their investment.

AIRCRAFT CANOPY

To ensure smooth, flowing design lines there is a distinct absence of ‘shutlines’ on the front wings and rear quarter panels. The panels are welded with copper behind them and then smoothed and polished.

REAR DIFFUSER

The stainless steel rear diffuser plays
a crucial role in the stability of the Spyker C8 Aileron at speed. It maintains maximum downforce for longer, giving the car higher levels

The core of the Spyker C8 Aileron is provided by its aluminium spaceframe chassis. Weighing 230 kg, this gives the car a rigidity of 22,000 Nm/degree ensuring the suspension and handling are not compromised due to ‘body flex’.

BRAKES

The radial-mounted brake callipers manufactured by AP Racing are available as standard in black and feature the Spyker script in silver. The aluminium alloy design reduces unsprung weight which reduces the effect of poor road surfaces and improves driving dynamics.

SUSPENSION

The C8 Aileron’s suspension has been designed and developed in partnership with Lotus. The fully independent and adjustable double wishbone suspension is made from forged aluminium to reduce vehicle weight.

GEARBOX

The six-speed automatic gearbox enhances the relaxed driving experience by providing a seamless, yet instant, progression through the gears. Spyker’s trademark exposed gear change mechanism was inspired by early aircraft controls present in Spyker’s aviation heritage and provides a sense of occasion and craftsmanship proving that aesthetic and function need not be separated.

Welcome to your cockpit

Spyker uses the finest Hulshof leather and aluminium, for authenticity and substance—the use of plastics is reduced to almost zero. Once seated, your surroundings are unusually open and airy for a sports car, the light and glass akin to an aeroplane cockpit.

Ignition switch

Flick the red cover on the ignition switch to evoke the spirit of starting an aeroplane. Activate the ignition switch and listen to the reassuring “clack” as the aluminium switch moves into place. Watch the dashboard light up as part of your ‘pre-flight check’ before pressing the engine start/stop button to hear the rumble of the V8 engine.

Aircraft canopy

The emotive dual roof structure is finished in stainless steel with laminated glass . The aeroplane cockpit inspired configuration provides a light and airy interior to deliver more everyday enjoyment and a true ‘sense of occasion’.

Chronoswiss DIALS

As an optional package the standard dials can be upgraded to Chronoswiss milled dials. The exquisite German watchmakers are famous for the ‘milled’ edge to their exclusive watches.

Chronoswiss SWITCHES

As an optional package, the same milling can be added to the switches of your Spyker C8 Aileron for an even higher level of tactility and the benefit of knowing that the skills employed in exquisite watch making are being applied to your automobile.

Dashboard

Spyker believes in using authentic materials of true quality and substance for any area you can see or touch. Plastic is deliberately avoided to ensure the highest possible use of ‘pure’ materials. As a unique Spyker feature, you can opt to have a turned aluminium fascia. Seen on planes in the 1920s and 30s, the original effect was achieved by hand, ‘turning’ metallic ‘dust’ or fine shavings into the dashboard with a cork.

Reference sound system

The reference loudspeaker system is precision engineered to complement acoustically and aesthetically the unique interior, style and feel of the Spyker C8 Aileron.

Leather

The leather for Spyker cars is sourced from the Litano range produced by the Royal Hulshof Dutch Tanneries in Lichtenvoorde. Hulshof use only West European first choice bull hides and the special ‘tanning’ process produces the beautifully rich colour palette and a silky feel with irresistible super-soft, warm touch. It takes 11 hides to make a Spyker interior.

PERSONALISATION

Spyker’s trademark diamond stitched quilted finish is available as an option, as is contrast stitching, Alcantara® and a duo-tone interior.
